Nintendo 3DS 9.3.0 System Update Now Live: Update Adds Theme Shuffling, Dual-Screen Screenshots

Nintendo's latest system update for the 3DS is now live and ready to download. Version 9.3.0 allows users to automatically switch 3DS themes as well as take screenshots that features both the upper and lower screens.

The first change that Nintendo notes in the update's patch notes is that the options for changing the handheld's home screen theme now includes a Shuffle Favorites feature. With this feature activated, users can put together an entire collection of themes that they like and have the system automatically change from one theme to another every time the system goes to sleep or is turned off completely. The result is a rotating library of themes, making sure that the user never grows too bored of their 3DS home screen.

With the 9.3.0 update, 3DS players can also now take screenshots of their home screen that include both the upper and lower screens of the handheld. Previously, players were only able to take a screenshot of either the top or touch screen, not both at the same time.

Both themes and screenshots were introduced a couple of months ago in the 3DS 9.0 system update. Themes allow 3DS players to better customize their handheld with specialty backgrounds for the system's home screen. New themes have been added to the store regularly since the feature went live, based on anything from popular games to simple patterns.

In the final line item in the 9.3.0 3DS patch notes, Nintendo states that software updates can now be downloaded from the comfort of the home menu, which should save 3DS players a little time every time they need to update one of their programs.

This 3DS system update should now be available in the handheld's System Settings app under "Other Settings."
