Apple Watch Production To Kick Off In Janurary, Report Says; Millions Of Units To Be Produced In First Run

Apple Watch Production Is Set To Kick Off In Janurary

After a couple months of Apple Watch-related radio silence from Apple, we may be seeing the wearable's first signs of movement as mass production reportedly starts next month.

Apple Releases iOS 8.1.2 Software Update

Apple's upcoming wearable will start being put together next month, according to a report from 9to5Mac. The information comes from a Taiwanese news source that says Apple's suppliers will kick off production in Janissary and that Apple is gearing up to work on an order to the tune of several million units. Knowing the amount of brand loyalty Apple commands, though, they likely won't have much trouble getting rid of all those units.

Starting mass production in January makes the rumored Valentine's Day launch date seem less likely (though not necessarily impossible). Rather, the other rumor that the Apple Watch will roll out sometime around April seems like the safer bet at this point.

Android Wear's Lollipop Update Enabled Customized Watch Faces And A New Watch Face API

The Apple Watch was revealed back in September alongside the iPhone 6, but Apple has been pretty silent on it since then. Apple did, however, recently release the WatchKit API for developers. Getting developer tools out early ensures that, when the Apple Watch does finally release in early 2015, its App Store will be filled with new programs to try out.

The device is said to cost as low as $350 for the cheapest model and up to $5,000 for the premium model made with real gold.
