Razer's New Microphone Gives You Studio-Quality Recordings

Game gear maker Razer has announced the upcoming release of its new microphone that offers professional-quality recordings for a relatively affordable price.

The Razer Seiren (pronounced like "siren") is being marketed to the content producer side of the video game audience. Twitch streamers and YouTubers alike would be able to use the Seiren to record top-quality audio while only having a single USB cable to mess with. Razer also notes, though, that the Seiren doesn't necessarily need to be used with game audio. It can be useful to other customers, like musicians, who could also use top-quality recordings.

The Seiren also allows supports four different kinds of recording – cardioid, stereo, bidirectional and omnidirectional – that can be easily toggled via a main knob. No matter what kind of recording the user needs, the Seiren looks to be up for the challenge.

“Platforms like YouTube and Twitch are a big part of how people experience their media today, and they shape how we interact with each other,” Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan said in a release. “Tuned for a professional-style setup and able to be assembled and transported quickly and easily, the Razer Seiren is a microphone designed specifically for streamers and YouTubers.”

The Razer Seiren is up for preorder now on Razer's website for $179. The first batch is set to ship next week, on December 19. If you're a knowledgeable audio nerd and want to check out all of the ins and outs of the Seiren's technical specs, you can head over to the microphone's reveal page.
