The holidays can be a tough time for some people. While everyone is out spending time with their family, perhaps you’re stuck somewhere on a job or perhaps the weather has been particularly unfestive, or you’re simply a Grinch. Those in need of a pick me up from the post-Christmas blues should really watch the new trailer for Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.

The trailer is an explosion of bright colors. A Japanese woman excitedly narrates the action and the many gameplay mechanics, often blurting out a very charming ‘RAINBOW!’ which never fails to amuse. How can you be upset or sad when there’s Kirby nearby?

The Wii U title is a follow up to the 2005 DS title, Kirby: Canvas Curse and is due out on February 13 here in the States. The game will feature 28 levels of colorful platforming adventure, and an additional 40 challenge stages. In Rainbow Curse, you guide the pink balloon along the Wii U Control Pad, drawing rainbow infused ‘ropes’ across the screen in which Kirby rolls along. The video shows off the many ways you can utilize the mechanic, from blocking falling lava, to circling foes to find their weak point.

Players can even collect 100 coins and then unleash a mega huge Kirby on the surrounding platform area.

The game features full Amiibo support, as outlined by NintendoEverything: “The Kirby figure will allow players to star dash at any time. Meta Knight provides a special mask and higher attack, while Dedede also has a unique mask and offers higher health.”
