Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.5 Before The Fall Trailer Shows Off A Dangerous And Beautiful World [VIDEO]
Square Enix has released a ten minute long trailer highlighting much of the new content arriving next week as part of Patch 2.5 'Before the Fall', the three-part update to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
The patch will be released over several weeks in three separate updates and set the groundwork for the anticipated release of Heavensward, FF XIV's first expansion. Chapter One of Before the Fall will hit servers on Tuesday, January 20.
Part One will include several new main quest scenarios that feature pretty people in unrealistic armor doing incredible things for various reasons, and several new versions of classic dungeons. Hard modes for the Wanderer's Palace and Amdapor Keep will add a new level of challenge for veteran players.
The new Keeper of the Lake is a new level 50 fouir-player dungeon that features some strange Ornithopter-esque contraptions, before setting loose a dragon upon you and your team. Sounds like fun. The eight-player, level 50 trial Urth's Fount will have you going toe to toe against the Primal Odin, who you can see in all his armored and mounted glory in the trailer below.
In subjects that are a little less than 'worldending', the Manderville Gold Saucer - the Cactuar inspired casino - will let players relax, play some Triad and more than likely, lose all their money. That will arrive in sub-patch 2.51 shortly after the release of the major content next week.
The World of Darkness also comes to FFXIV, offering up a plate of nightmares for daring 24-man raids.
And more is coming. Two additional updates will wrap up many of the main quest lines and send you north to the frozen realm of Ishgard for the Heavensward expansion this Spring. Expect the two remaining Before the Fall chapters to come soon.
