The Walking Dead Season 5 Spoilers: Daryl And Carol To Foster Romance? 'Never Say Never', Says Norman Reedus

Daryl May Have His Eyes On A New Sweetheart In The Walking Dead

Romantic relationships take a huge back seat in the world of The Walking Dead- which makes sense, survival is a bigger issue than dating. One relationship that has been on the minds of fans is a possible Daryl/Carol pairing. With Beth gone, could this be in the future?

"I never say never," said Norman Reedus, the actor who plays Daryl Dixon in an interview with TV Guide when asked about the possibility.

The idea of the two is not new, the Carol/Daryl match has been something fans speculated over, especially in some of the early parts of the prison story line. There is a definite connection between the two.

Missing Characters From New The Walking Dead Promo May Point To Deaths

This could just be the idea of a fellow survivor who has seen major changes in themselves, kindred souls. Or it could be more. Now that Beth is no longer an option, Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride) would be free to explore this idea.

But fans shouldn't expect it to happen too soon, if it does at all. Beth's death did send the group reeling and they are all recovering from that traumatic event.

"He's full of grief at this moment and he'll probably shut down a bit," said Reedus. "Beth meant a lot to Daryl and I feel like she was, in his eyes, one of the only good people left in the world. Daryl didn't think that people thought [like her] any longer. She was definitely a beacon of hope for him and he was sad to watch her go."

Hope springs ever eternal in The Walking Dead. With the shift in attitudes from basic survival to more of a focused drive in the coming season will leave more room for romance between the two.

The Walking Dead returns February 8 to AMC.
