The Legend Of Zelda Majora's Mask 3D Release Date Arrives Tomorrow, Giving New Life To A Series Favorite

Majora's Mask 3D Arrives Tomorrow, Giving Series Favorite New Life

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask was a cult hit among series fans at the time, with many players turned off or intimidate by its three-day timed cycle. It still remains one of the franchise's most unique, dark, and memorable experiences, and an upgraded 3DS version is set for release tomorrow.

More than a simple re-release, Majora's Mask 3D breathes new life into the 2001 game with improved graphics and updated modern features. The quest-tracking Bomber's Notebook has become much more useful and robust, and several gameplay features have been tweaked as well.

"There's a reason The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is consistently mentioned as a favorite entry in The Legend of Zeldaseries by many," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "With the launch of this new enhanced version and New Nintendo 3DS XL on the same day, a whole new generation of fans can experience the fantastic adventure for the first time on an equally fantastic portable system."

If you're unfamiliar with the plot, Majora's Mask takes place in the doomed world of Termina, where an ominous moon is set to crash down and destroy everything after 72 hours. With the Ocarina, Link can manipulate time in an attempt to save the world as he solves puzzles, defeats dungeons, and interacts with the region's quirky cast of characters. You can slow down, speed up, and reset the clock by playing certain songs on the Ocarina, and a collection of masks can transform Link entirely. The new Bomber's Notebook (with touchscreen integration) can be used to set alarms to remind you of timed events, and organize tasks to keep you on schedule.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D will launch on 3DS tomorrow, February 13, alongside the New Nintendo 3DS XL. The game will cost $39.99, and can be played on both the new and original 3DS systems. A fantastic Majora's Mask themed New Nintendo 3DS XL will launch alongside the game, though the two are not bundled together and supply is short.
