Techland Announces Free Dying Light March Update, Includes Hard Mode, Character Skins, And Gameplay Improvements

Techland has announced that hard mode is coming to Dying Light in a free update that will supplement the Season Pass DLC.

Our Review Of Techland's Dying Light, An Excellent Zombie Action Title

The studio first made the announcement on Twitter, also stating that free new character skins are on the way. The wording (see below) seems to imply that these were popular requests from fans, and it's good to see them oblige--particularly at no cost.

Techland didn't get very specific about Hard Mode, but did reveal a general overview of the mode's changes in a press release. It includes more vicious enemies, harder nights, more emphasis on stealth, and fewer resources to collect.

"A few gamers have already finished Dying Light and are asking for more," producer Tymon Smektala said. "So we're going to give our community a new challenge that will put everything they learnt in the game to the test. Hard Mode is exactly that. We're aiming to have it out around the start of March, if not sooner. Depends on how brutal we wanna make this on people."

The developers also explained that the free March update would bring "many" gameplay improvements. None of these were named specifically (for now), but you can read about the recently announced Season Pass DLC. Techland also announced plans to release free modding tools for the community. Dying Light is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4--you can read our review here.
