Nintendo eShop And Virtual Console Update: Six Classic Donkey Kong Titles On Sale, Ironfall Invasion And More

If the calendar says it's Thursday, that can mean only one thing: Nintendo eShop weekly update!

Nintendo's PAX East Lineup Announced: Codename STEAM, Splatoon And More

This week's offerings are heavy on everyone's favorite anthropmorphic ape, with six - yes, SIX - Donkey Kong titles making their way onto the Virtual Console.

Coming to the Wii U is the one and only classic, Donkey Kong Country. The SNES game brought Donkey Kong from barrel-throwing villain to...barrel-throwing hero across over 100 levels of platforming goodness. The game also marked the first appearance of enduring icon, Diddy Kong. $7.99.

Because you can never have too much of a good thing, the sequels Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (ohhhh...kong quest - conquest, I get it now) for $7.99. Also, you can pick up the third, Donkey Kong Country: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, in which our heroine must rescue Donkey and Diddy across 40 great levels. Also $7.99.

The 3DS is getting the original Game Boy series Donkey Kong Land and its two sequels all for $3.99.

But wait there's more! "Buy one or more participating Donkey Kong games for the Virtual Console service on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and get 30 percent off your Nintendo eShop purchase of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U) and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (Nintendo 3DS)." The offer is good until March 3.

Players can also nab a new NES Donkey Kong theme for the 3DS, as well as two new Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate themes: Hunter's Seal and Palicoes 4 Ever, both available on Saturday, February 28.

The big new title on the Nintendo 3DS is IRONFALL Invasion, certainly one of the best looking 3DS games to date. A third person shooter that features 11 single-player levels and allows for 6 man multiplayer battles. The best part, you can try both modes out for free before you buy them (separately, that is).

Titan Attacks - sadly, not an Attack on Titan game, but it does feature a lone hero standing up against the onslaught of a far superior enemy. Crafted with love and care, the Space Invaders-esque title, previously available on Steam, makes its way onto the 3DS. Features 100 levels spread across five worlds, all of which need saving.

Also out this week is a match 3 explosion!

GravBlocks+ [Wii U] - a sci-fi infused Match 3 puzzle title, $4.99
Around The World In 80 Days [DS/3DS] - the classic Jules Verne adventure, which absolutely, totally, faithfully recreates that chapter where Phileas had to match three gems to win. $4.99

That ought to keep you occupied for the next week or so. See you next Thursday!
