Clash Of Clans Lava Hound Strategy Guide: Is Attacking With Eight Too Much Of A Good Thing? [VIDEO]

Too Many Hounds! How Many Lava Hounds Is Too Much In Clash Of Clans? A Scientific Study

They say too much of a good thing is actually a bad thing. I'm not sure who said that, but he or she clearly didn't know how to appreciate things properly. Taking that philosophy and transferring it to Clash of Clans, we are presented with the following conundrum: Lava Hounds are a good thing, but is it possible to have too much of a good thing?

Our Interview With Galadon, A Top Clash Of Clans Caster

The answer is, apparently, yes. But how much? Three, four, five? More? YouTuber Galadon of Clash of Clans Attacks has decided to put the question to the test with several new attacks from various members of his own clan.

The standard attack is four and is known as the Quatrolavaloonian - four Lava Hounds and the rest of the army composed of Balloons and the two Heroes. This is ideal because it gives you just enough time to distract a bloc of defenses with the hounds before the balloons rush in and deal out the damage. The king and queen play sweep to get you to either one or two stars.

As seen, five Lava Hounds still work, if not better, as they carpet the map with Lava Pups upon death which can continue burning down buildings. Playing six or seven requires a little more care as to which opponent you face, as well as timing and placement of the hounds. Too early and they're cut down, too late and your Balloons - your main damage dealer - are laid to waste. In fact, in the replays shown, dispatching a Lava Hound after the Balloons (don't worry, you'll have one to spare with six or seven) is advisable, as that final Hound will distract any lingering air defenses surrounding the town hall.

The real fun comes with eight Lava Hounds. Galadon attempts this - three times, he says - to no avail. The problem is one of sheer force: you just don't have enough of it to do any lasting damage. Hounds are meant as distractions, not weapons and with eight of them, you only have room enough for six balloons to deal out the majority of your damage.

So, to answer the question: can you have too much of a good thing? Yes, yes you can. Eight Lava Hounds is far too much of a good thing, you might say it's...TOO MANY HOUNDS (too many hounds) But it sure is fun to watch.
