Apple Event Preview And Stream Info: Apple Watch Prices & Software Details Expected, MacBook Air Reveal Likely

Details & Pricing Expected For Apple Watch At Live Event Today, New MacBook Air Likely To Appear

Apple is hosting an event today that will focus largely on the Apple Watch, going into further detail about the device revealed at its live event in September.

Halo Championship Series Season 1 Recap: Evil Geniuses Crowned Deserved Winners

The show is kicking off at 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Eastern), and you'll be able to watch via live stream on Apple's site. The company makes it difficult if you're not using its products, though--only devices running Safari on OS X 10.6.8 or above can view the stream.

You would think Apple wants as many eyes on as possible, especially those of potential converts using Windows or Android devices, but I digress. Grab an iPad from around the house or office, borrow a friend's phone, or revert to following live tweets and blog updates--the choice is yours.

Steam Machine Prices And Hardware Revealed

What can we expect from the event? The Apple Watch has its initial pricing ($349), but there are no details on how much higher that will go for additional features or special editions. That base price will come with the cheapest parts like a rubber strap, and Apple will surely have higher-end models with much bigger price tags. Some informed speculation such as this blog post on Daring Fireball puts the device as high as $1,000 with certain feature pairings.

We should also learn when to expect the device, and see more information about the software and apps that will be available. This will likely include the reveal of iOS 8.2, which will introduce Apple Watch support.

The Apple Watch will most likely be the headliner, but that shouldn't be all we expect from the company today. The Verge points out that Apple is overdue for a new notebook reveal, and it's very possible that we see the new 12-inch MacBook Air model that 9to5Mac reported on earlier this year. The laptop is expected to be super thin, losing some long-running standards to achieve a new form. Older MacBook Air models will likely receive a refresh as well.

We'll have a link to the stream when it goes live later today--check back at 10 a.m. Pacific.
