'Final Fantasy Type 0 HD' Gameplay Trailer Shows Some Familiar Foes And Unfamiliar Airship Battles [TRAILER]

Airship Battles Confirmed In 'Final Fantasy Type-0 HD' Alongside A Roster Of Familiar Foes

We are a few short days away from the release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, a game that has gotten its fair number of trailers. That doesn't mean there isn't time for one more, as Square Enix has just dropped a new nostalgia filled look at the upcoming remake.

Mortal Kombat X Marks Today By Introducing Jason Voorhees

If one can sum up the look and feel of this latest trailer it's: 'Type-0 HD will be the same, but different.' The series has endured for so long not necessarily because of its innovations (of which there are many, no doubt) but in its reuse and repurposing of elements from previous titles. This creates a weird sort of continuity, and also gives the artists and designers an easier time in their work.

For instance, while many of their names escape me, nearly all of the enemies featured in the trailer are from previous titles. Chocobos? Check. Moogles? Check (though here it's an acronym for Military Operations, Organization And Guidance Logistics Expert). Airships? Check. But! After dozens of entries in the series, we are at last getting airship battles. So find a Cid or a Biggs and Wedge and gear them up and get ready to take flight.

As always, "customization and character growth are key to victory as you enter the fray to defeat the enemy and uncover the secrets behind the war that threatens to tear apart the world of Orience."

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD comes out next Tuesday, March 17 for both Xbox One and PS4. If you can secure a pre-order, you will also receive the Final Fantasy XV demo Episode Duscae, which you can get a glimpse of at the end of this trailer below.

The more things change, the more Final Fantasy stays the same. That's kind of the way we like it.
