Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.55 Update 'before The Fall Part 2' Released Today; Completes The Storyline Of A Realm Reborn
Square Enix has released patch 2.55, the second major part of the Before The Fall update to their MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Appropriately titled 'Before The Fall Part 2', the patch concludes the entire storyline established in A Realm Reborn and paves the way for the game's first major expansion, Heavensward due out in June. Players wishing to travel to the frozen wastes of Ishgard, the main city and quest hub in the expansion, will have to complete the Before the Dawn main quest scenario introduced via today's patch.
"A great wyrm's roar echoes through the skies of Coerthas, calling all dragonkind to war. The Gates of Judgement, Ishgard's outermost defenses, now come under attack. With the city's very survival in the balance, can the Scions of the Seventh Dawn rally the Eorzean Alliance─or is the Holy See doomed to fall?" That just sounds dramatic as anything.
The full Before the Dawn quest scenario involves 16 new quests, which must be completed in order in order to advance. The new questline will tease many of the upcoming additions to the game world.
Additionally, a new Trial has been added: the Steps of Faith, "Unlike other duties, success in the Steps of Faith is contingent upon the ability to defend certain constructs along the bridge toward Ishgard. Furthermore, total party incapacitation will not result in failure of the duty. Players will instead be returned to the starting point of the duty, at which point they can return to battle."
Players wishing to gamble their digital currency away at the Manderville Gold Saucer casino will find adjusted Triple Triad and Chocobo Racing rules and numbers, especially with regards to Chocobo abilities.
The full list of patch notes can be found at the official patch 2.55 site. Heavensward hits PS4, PS3 and PC on June 23. Prepare yourselves.
