Mortal Kombat X Tournaments Announced For Those Already Amazing MKX Players

Previously announced at Blizzcon 2014, Legacy of the Void will finish the epic saga of Starcraft II. But not that we really care about the care that Blizzard puts into their mythologies; what are they doing for multiplayer? Well, they're changing up a lot of the early game mechanics and also introducing several new abilities and units for each of the game's three races.

First and foremost, Legacy of the Void is rewarding players who stick their neck out in search of resources. The starting resources for each base is now "half the mineral patches have 1500 minerals, and the other half have 750". The numbers can be adjusted, but expect to run out a bit sooner, meaning you'll need to start working on expansion plans earlier in the game.

But you'll have a little extra help: each race will have 12 starting resource collectors to better optimize the flow of the early game. You'll now have a few more options during the first minutes (because you'll be able to build faster) and this should also make for shorter games overall.

The big addition to multiplayer is the new Archon mode, or '2 players, 1 base' style of play. This is an addition that has been long in the process and can help new players get ushered into the game with the aid of a more experienced vet, and also let that one friend (we'll call him Timmy) who is really good at micro-managing every single last unit but crap at resource management play to his strengths.

Speaking of Timmy, the number of new units he has to micro-manage has been increased! Each race is getting two new units along with a wealth of upgrades to current ones. This is great news for Timmy, because Timmy is unemployed and spends all his time researching the best case strategies for each and every individual unit in the game and lousy for you because you can't just go Goliath-Siege Tank anymore and call it a day.

We jest because we care. Invites are being sent out starting tomorrow. Watch the video for all the highlights and head over to the blog for a more detailed rundown.
