Minecraft of course got its famous start on PC, but the console ports have proven hugely successful, as well. It's already Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition's third birthday, and Mojang is celebrating with some giveaways.

There are 20 million Minecraft players on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, a pretty incredible amount--especially when you consider the game is available on many other platforms. For all of them, three free skin packs are being made available to download for free.

The three packs will remain available until May 17. The first is a brand-new bundle featuring "veteran Mojangstas and a few cheeky extras". The other two packs are the first two birthday skins from the previous years--the Birthday Skin Pack from last year and the 1st Skin Pack from the game's first year.

Mojang notes that veteran 360 players might already have the older birthday packs, but this is the first time they've been available on Xbox One. The most recent announcement prior to this release was the launch of the female Alex skin and The Simpsons skin pack launching on PlayStation systems.
