The second beta to World of Tanks was a success and open beta weekend is closed. We've finally found a fixed date for the official launch of one of the biggest online hits on PC, World of Tanks will rumble its way to your PlayStation 4
The free-to-play tank shooting action game will be officially released worldwide on January 19. This goes with a platform-specific functionality, some tweaks and rare, exclusive content coming for everyone who decides to try the game out this January.
The online hit was originally released for PCs in 2010 and has evolved into a great online experience that is proud of its flexibility and a wide array of gameplay modes. Not only that, World of Tanks is a game full of great customization features, and a great number of console ports have been put up these past years. January's Playstation port will only be the beginning, World of Tanks will also be released for the Xbox One and a modified version will also be introduced for the Xbox 360.
Wargaming will be offering different starter packs for gamers. Each starter pack will include a variety of premium content. What's great though is that you don't need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to avail of it. However, if you are, you'll be starting the game with a special tank, three days of premium account time, and get discounts on other game related purchases. As a way to attract newcomers, Wargaming will also be giving away a T1E6-PS US Premium Light Tank which includes exclusive camouflage to all players who decided take part PlayStation 4 version of World of Tanks by the end of the month.
The new PlayStation 4 port of World of Tanks has been optimized for the Playstation 4. It offers a DualShock 4-specific control scheme, and grants platform-specific features like Share Play and Remote Play via a connected PlayStation Vita. Veteran players will also receive an incentive, they will be given a Platinum trophy, giving them an edge on online ranked games.
World of Tanks players on the PlayStation 4 can access a collection of four different Founder's Packs at launch, each containing premium items that can otherwise be purchased with in-game currency. You can download it for free on January 19.
