Metal Gear Online Suspended to Fix Exploit

Metal Gear Online Suspended to Fix Exploit

Konami has shut down Metal Gear Online hours after its release on PC. They have decided to temporarily suspend the beta because of an MB exploit that existed in the game. This allowed gamers to take advantage of free cash shop coins to purchase items during the beta. Konami has decided to issue a hotfix to remove the exploit.

There isn't really a time frame where we can expect the beta to return. However, on a Steam discussion thread, a community manager from Konami announced that the issue is being fixed and the beta is now running smoothly for PC gamers.

"Due to a possible exploit, we've removed access to the Beta temporarily while a hotfix is being prepared." the community manager said. "The maintenance has ended and the Metal Gear Online Beta should now be available once again. Please check and let us know if you continue to run into issues." he added.

The whole repair period was approximately 10 hours, as the developers tried to kill the exploit that allowed PC gamers to have free access to MB coins. MB coins are the virtual currency in the game that is being paid for with "actual money". "Since this is a Beta version of the game, it's certainly possible that you'll run into some bugs, errors, or issues from time to time." the community manager concluded.

Just for your information, Metal Gear Solid's online mode makes money out of microtransactions in the cash shop. These MB coins are used to buy clothes, accessories and a wide variety of gear and outfits from previous Metal Gear Solid games.

Metal Gear Online has been on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since October, a month after its launch in September of 2015. Once they finish adding the PC version to the game, the online version will be complete across all platforms.
