Sony gives PSN Plus Subscribers One Day Extension For Earlier Outage

Recently, the PlayStation Network suffered a rather short but annoying outage that lasted for several hours. Sony Computer Entertainment, in order to make up for the problem, is sending extension codes that grant an extra one day for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Many subscribers to the PlayStation Network were unable to play and purchase games.

Following an almost 12-hour blackout of the PlayStation Network just this Jan. 4, Sony has apparently emailed its subscribers to the service a free one day extension for the inconvenience it caused. Many gamers were enraged by the outage and were practically hoping for somewhere more than one day. But it only lasted a few hours anyway so we think that one day seemed fair enough.

Sony has been attempting to win back the confidence of its customers after the infamous hacking attack a couple of years back and the Christmas day outage last year. However, the most recent incident was nothing more than a small annoyance, Sony was quick to fix any rage the fans may have felt during the blackout period.

The PlayStation Network went down only for an estimated 12 hours, when gamers experienced issues on all platforms worldwide. Some games can be still be played offline, however there are several titles, including popular games such as The Elder Scrolls Online and Destiny, which are online-only multiplayer games. The outage rendered them totally useless and forced the players to either play offline games, or just complain in social media. Hence, gamers looking to play these games at the time were out of luck and had to patiently wait for the issue to be resolved.

The code used to extend the subscription, needs to be redeemed before March 31st, after that the code will expire and won't be usable at all. We are assuming that Sony will be sending the same kind of extension to subscribers of other services, including PlayStation Vue and PlayStation Now, but for now, just check your inbox from time to time.
