Google Introduces Fiber to Kansas CIty

Google launched its first Google Fiber in Kansas City. It offers gigabit-speed broadband service and cable TV. It promises to be "100 percent faster" than "traditional" broadband speed.

Google has said Gigabit is just the beginning of its plans that will put data access speed on the exponential growth curve. In terms of speed and pricing, the U.S. is comparatively far behind, Google said.

Google Fiber will come with a network box described as "simple network management" that will offer gigabit routing, Wi-Fi, four ethernet ports, a gigabit firewall, it will have a "storage box" of 2TB. Fiber comes with 1TB cloud storage through Google Drive. You will have "great new TV experience" with Fibre TV that has a Bluetooth remote and a search interface. About 500 hours of HD shows can be recorded. Google will add a remote app for iOS and Android letting you "voice search." They have also told in the later versions there will be video streaming too. Nexus 7 tablet that can be used as remote control also figures in the TV package. "We're turning every TV into a Wi-Fi hotspot," said Google.

Google offers this service in here different plans,

Gigabit plus the TV service will cost $120 per month with a $300 construction free waiver for a two-year contract. A huge selection of network and cable channels in HD will be offered in the Fibre TV service.

If you want only the Internet service then that will cost $70 a month and comes with a $300 construction fee waiver and contract.

Google also offers a free plan, but you are limited. You get 5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload speeds with the $300 construction fee.
