‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ News & Updates: Electronic Arts Confirms Sequel Is Underway, Is Virtual Reality Next?

Electronic Arts (EA) confirmed that more "Star Wars" games are on its way, including the sequel to "Star Wars: Battlefront," shown in a short video released on Sunday. More so, fans are in for a great treat as EA hints on a venture into virtual reality over the next few years.

'Star Wars: Battlefront' Sequel Underway

While the EA Play conference ended on Sunday, it left fans a lot to look forward to, Nerdist reported. EA teased several new Star Wars projects in its pipeline. Included is the much-awaited sequel to "Star Wars: Battlefront," which will be released next year. Fans are optimistic that the sequel will be special.

More so, The Verge reported that original game is expected to get three new expansion packs this year, including those set on "Bespin" and "Death Star." The last expansion will be released in December.

EA's internal studios are also working on games set in far away galaxies. "Unchartered" writer Amy Henning is working on a third-person "Star Wars" title, which is due to come out in 2018. EA has described it as "an original, authentic narrative in the 'Star Wars' universe."

Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the mech shooter "Titanfall," is likewise making a third-person action-adventure game set in "Star Wars" universe. There was no release date given for Respawn's new game.

It is still unclear though if Motive is working with DICE on "Star Wars: Battlefront" and at the same time working with Amy Henning.

 'Star Wars: Battlefront' VR Experience.

What's more exciting is EA's reveal of 'Star Wars: Battlefront' VR experience in the next few years. The video included the briefest glimpse at a PlayStation VR headset and X-Wing cockpit.

EA said that DICE is working with Criterion, creator of "Burnout," in an exclusive "Star Wars: Battlefront" VR mission for PlayStation VR this year, The Verge said.

Check out the video released by EA and get excited to see so many Star Wars games planned out for you.
