Research In Motion plans to include more features into its upcoming mobile operating system, BlackBerry 10.
The Canadian company will bring in a feature that will pull all the social networking and auxiliary data about individual contacts and plans to integrate them in a single place.
So the contacts in BlackBerry 10 will not only show the number of the individuals, but you'll also see their latest Facebook update, latest tweet etc. Your contacts will also show any scheduled meetings you have with that individual.
"BlackBerry has always had this heritage of productivity. We are just going to make it better yet again, when we launch BlackBerry 10," said T A McCann, vice president of Product Strategy (Contacts).
This is not a new feature for users of Android based handhelds. Motorola introduced the feature in 2009. In Android 2.0, users can see details of a contact's social networking updates. Windows Phones also have a similar feature in its People Hub, where users can not only see their Facebook posts, but also contact details. There will be more improvements in the upcoming version of Windows Phone.
It will be a long way to go for RIM to be successful with its BlackBerry 10. The new platform was unveiled in May 2012. RIM plans to merge homescreens, widgets, app lists, and inbox into a single interface. It will have a smart full-touchscreen QWERTY keypad, 720p HD display with 16:9 aspect ratio, and 4.3-inch touchscreen. It will also include a camera app that will let the user adjust a portrait by moving through time, allowing you to make the picture perfect.
The new OS and smartphone from the Canadian company is expected to arrive in early 2013.
