Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Releases First Trailer (Watch It)

Washington-based Valve Corporation released a trailer of its most popular and awaited game from the Counter-Strike franchise, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The company said the cinematic trailer was developed using Source Filmmaker at Valve. The feedback from beta has been great and the gamers who played the beta version have been a great help by contributing to game's development.

Classic content will be featured in the new game including old maps. There will be newer maps, characters, and game modes. The game will support matchmaking and leaderboards and Elo rating system (a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in two-player games), this will help prioritize matching players by skill levels.

There were earlier plans to include cross-platform multiplayer between PlayStation 3, Mac OS X, and Windows players but due to issues with update frequency, the plans were scrapped. But cross-platform multiplayer between PC and Mac will be going available.

PlayStation 3 players can be happy as the PlayStation 3 version will be offering three control methods inclusive of DualShock 3 controller, PlayStation Move, or USB keyboard/mouse.

Gaming modes like Hostage Rescue, Bomb Defusal and newer ones like Arms Race and Demolition collectively known as "Arsenal Mode" (based on the popular gungame mod in Counter Strike and Counter Strike: Source) will all be featured.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is an online first-person shooter game. This is the fourth game in the franchise. Counter-Strike was first released in 2000.

Arms Race is a Deathmatch mode (every player is rewarded for a kill with new weapon and the first player who gets a kill with every weapon wins the game). The Demolition is a round-based mode that does not have any weapon and equipment purchasing thus challenging players with weaker weapons for each kill. The game will see weapons and equipment not seen in the previous instalments like the Molotov cocktail.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be released Tuesday for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network.
