'Resident Evil 7' Release Date, News & Update: Capcom Confirms 'Resident Evil 7' Won't Be A Ghost Story, To Have A Different Kind Of Twist In The End

It was first revealed by Capcom that the coming "Resident Evil 7" will be based on the original story of the game series. However, as the demo game of the 11th installment title revealed, many questioned if it will be a ghost story.

'Resident Evil 7' Concept

Capcom confirmed that "Resident Evil 7" will be like the original "Resident Evil" for having the same survival horror theme.

The video game company added that "Resident Evil 7" will also be the first first-person perspective from the game series.

Hence, Capcom proved that "Resident Evil 7" won't be a ghost story like fans believe it to be, according to Eurogamer.

'Resident Evil 7' Gameplay

Capcom director Kōshi Nakanishi explained that "Resident Evil 7" will have the same concept it is known for.

"Resident Evil 7" will be completed with terror and frightening scenes while traveling around to its surreal settings, solving missions, storing supplies and fighting enemies.

However, he added that they will first concentrate on the two notions, horror and exploration. In fact, they will let the gamers experience these ideas straightly in "Resident Evil 7," GameTransfers reported.

"If you're thinking that because those other elements aren't in the demo, that they won't be in the game, that's not the case. We're focusing up front about the message of horror coming home in this demo," Kōshi Nakanishi described.

The Twist Of Having Ghosts

Moreover, Capcom didn't elaborate the return of zombies and biological weapons in "Resident Evil 7," but teased game aficionados that the ghosts they saw in the gameplay will have a different kind of twist in the end.

"I think you can look at the trailer or the demo and get that impression, but don't worry, we haven't just thrown out 'Resident Evil' as it exists and turned it into a ghost story. It will all make sense in the end," Kōshi Nakanishi wrote on its blog post.

"Resident Evil 7" is set to be released on Jan. 24, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
