Samsung Introduces New Touchscreen AIOs; Series 5 and Series 7

Samsung unveiled two new All-In-One (AIO) series of PCs on Tuesday at IFA 2012 at Berlin. These AIOs will be running on Windows 8 operating system.

Series 5 and Series 7 AIO PCs feature touchscreens that you do not even have to touch as they understand five different gestures from a distance of 3 feet.

Both the AIOs are thin and "space-agey," both have been designed specifically for family rooms and kitchen counters.

"Our new Series 7 and Series 5 All-In-One PCs are designed to meet a range of consumer needs across the home, all within highly stylized form factors that users will be proud to put on display," said Todd Bouman, vice president of product marketing at Samsung's Enterprise Business Division reported The FINANCIAL. "The expansion of our AIO line speaks to the success we've had in the PC market over the past year. Both of these new models take Samsung's convergence technologies to the next level, completing the home computing experience by connecting the PC to other devices in the home environment."

The Series 5 AIOs come with 21.5-inch touchscreen, is powered by third-generation Intel Core i3 processor, 500 GB of hard drive, 4 GB of memory and an optical drive. All this, for a price of $749.

While the Series 7 is a higher end and comes with a 27-inch display and a 23.6-inch display models. They have 1920x1080 pixel multi-touchscreens, 1 TB of hard drive, an optical drive and a wireless keyboard, mouse and remote control. The 27-inch has third-generation Intel Core i7 processor with 8 GB of memory and AMD Radeon HD 7850M graphics while the 23.6-inch has an Intel Core 15 processor with 6 GB of memory. The pricing for 27-inch model is $1,699 and for the 23.6 inch is $1,099.

Samsung offers features touch gestures like pinch to zoom, rotate and scroll.There are ten such multi touch functions. It also has an integrated webcam.

The device will be available in markets from Oct. 26.
