Sony has unveiled its new first, super-resolution high picture quality HD TV, the 84-inch 4K Bravia TV.

Sony announced this at the consumer electronics trade show in Berlin.

This new TV has a resolution of 3,840x2,160 which is four times the resolution of usual HD TVs that output 1,080p. It has passive 3D, and a "10 unit live speaker system."

The 4K technology is regarded as the next step in TV technology, said The Los Angeles Times. According to CNET, "[4K] It's a format that's been used extensively in the cinema but is making its way into lounge rooms."

Sony, on the issue of Passive 3D claimed that "high-resolution processing powers a 3D-viewing experience that exceeds full HD resolution." The higher resolution may translate into sharper 3D images.

This new TV has "4K X-Reality PRO," which is Sony's super-resolution high-picture quality engine, which is capable of reproducing a wide array for content with different resolutions like HD digital broadcasts of Blu-ray discs content into crisp, high quality images having a 4K resolution.

Details of pricing for U.S. markets and other features are not yet available.

The European version is expected to cost $31,000 (25,000 Euros) according to CNET.

This absolute beauty of a TV will be available in Sony stores by the end of the year in U.S.
