‘Arrow’ Season 5 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: John Barrowman Now Also A Regular On ‘Flash’, ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’

John Barrowman is expected to return to his dirty old ways when “Arrow” Season 5 kicks off in the Fall. He will continue to reprise his role as “Malcolm Merlin” though it may not be the only show where he will pop up.

Busy year ahead for the "Dark Archer"

The word out right now is that Barrowman will be doing extra work next season across all CW shows ("Flash, "Legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergir"). TV Line reports that he is set to become a series regular across all those CW/DC shows, meaning it will be a pretty busy year for the “Dark Archer”.

Barrowman has been around since the first season of “Arrow” though he did make a couple of appearances on “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow”. Seeing how his character can easily squeeze into all those shows, it will be interesting how things pan up.

Similar to “Captain Cold”?

The new deal involving Barrowman and his “Dark Archer” character brings to mind how another DC villain was played. This is with reference to Wentworth Miller’s “Captain Cold” who started out on the “Flash” and eventually landed on “Legends of Tomorrow”.

For those who missed his daring act, “Captain Cold” risked his life to save his buddy “Heat Wave” (Dominic Purcell). Though his character was not around during the finale, Miller will reportedly be back in some way on “Legends of Tomorrow”.

The difference between Miller and Barrowman is that the “Dark Archer” will likely maintain the villain role unless rare occasions call for him to act as a hero. He did that in the season 4 finale of “Arrow” though he was really left with no other choice.

While his appearance on “Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow” remains to be seen, his new evil itinerary on “Arrow” remains a mystery. Much of that is likely in the works as of the moment as the show gears up for its return this October.
