Due to its success on TV, "The Flash" is slated for its own standalone movie to premiere in 2018, and the latest reports claim that Matthew McConaughey is to play Reverse-Flash, the scarlet speedster's arch-nemesis.
The rumor began when a fan-made poster was posted on social media, not only imagining how Reverse Flash's costume would look like, but also imagined McConaughey as the actor of the said villain.
When not the Flash's arch nemesis, Reverse Flash is Eobard Thawne, who is said to be Central City's BIll Gates. He is a very wealthy man, but is severely disabled by a degenerative disease that has caused him to be stuck in a wheelchair. According to the University Herald, it was graphic designer BossLogic who created the now viral image of McConaughey, and it does seem like the actor is physically and aesthetically fit for the role.
Moreover, the same publication added that because this is the first "The Flash" movie franchise, it is expected that the production team will go all out with their casting, and what better way to go "all out" than to cast an A-list actor like McConaughey himself. For now, fans have to be content with the said fan-made art, as no official announcements have been made about McConaughey's casting.
Meanwhile, according to Cinema Blend, it is confirmed that Ezra Miller is set to reprise his role as the "fastest man in the world" in "The Flash" movie. He already made a brief cameo on "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" as the titular role, and fans can expect Miller to be back on the big screen as the iconic superhero in 2018.
Although the exact plot of "The Flash" movie is yet to be announced, the CW network TV show of the same name can give fans an idea of what the movie may be like. Although the actors will be different, the show gives a good basis of what to expect from the Flash's world - his family, friends, enemies, and the like.
As of the moment, it is now in the hands of screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith to surprise DC Comics enthusiasts with the "The Flash" movie storyline.
