The official trailer of Steven Spielberg's biopic of the 16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln was released Thursday by Dreamworks Pictures.
Earlier this week, Dreamworks teased audiences with a short trailer of "Lincoln." The teaser trailer just shown a profile of the president and his voice was not revealed.
But the latest trailer has the legislative houses, the battlefield, the streets and Lincoln asking "shall we stop this bleeding." Academy Award winner, Daniel Day-Lewis, plays the role of Lincoln, is heard speaking in the Kentuckian accent.
Spielberg said during a live chat on Google+ Thursday that the movie would focus more on the tone and content. In the movie, you would see the man in Lincoln who is a monumental figure, CinemaBlend said.
Spielberg's epic biographical drama of Lincoln takes place during the tumultuous last four months of his presidency which sees the end of Civil War and abolition of slavery. The movie will show the tough choices that Lincoln had to make that changed the course of U.S. history.
The movie was filmed in Virginia.
The film has a wonderful star cast: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, David Oyelowo, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace and Jared Harris.
The screenplay was written by Tony Kushner, who collaborated with Spielberg for "Munich." The film is based on historian Doris Kearns Goodwin's book "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln."
The movie, which is likely to be a strong contender for the Oscars and will hit the theatres Nov. 16. You can watch the trailer below.
