The James Bond franchise has a long tradition of popular artists performing the theme song. Production details of James Bond franchise's 23rd movie, "Skyfall" has been closely guarded, but rumors swirled that British singer Adele would be up for the theme song.
Showbiz 411 confirmed that the Grammy award-winning soul singer would indeed perform the theme song. She joins the ranks of Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Madonna, Tina Turner, Chris Cornell, a-ha, Lulu, Rita Coolidge, Shirley Bassey, Carly Simon, John Barry, and Jack White/Alicia Keys who have all immortalized the James Bond song with their voice.
In all likelihood, Adele will also be writing the song. It will be her first single since her last album "21." Adele has penned hits like "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain." Amy Winehouse was rumored to have been in talks to perform the theme song for "Skyfall" until her untimely death.
Meanwhile, new posters for the movie have been unveiled.
The movie is directed by Sam Mendes ("American Beauty," "Revolutionary Road"). The movie will have Daniel Craig reprise the role of James Bond, a British MI6, and Javier Bardem plays the bad guy. The cast will include Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Bérénice Marlohe, Albert Finney, Judi Dench, and Ben Whishaw.
"Skyfall" tells the story of James Bond and his loyalty to his boss, M when her past comes to haunt her and Bond is the only person to sort it out. The movie will released on Nov.9.
