'Battlefield 4' Latest News, Release Date & Update: Naval Strike DLC Available as Free Download Across All Platforms

For one whole week, the newest "Battlefield 4" Naval Strike DLC can be downloaded for free, thanks to EA Games.

The Naval Strike DLC, which features four marine maps set in the South China Sea, enables gamers to explore the Lost Islands, Nansha Strike, Wave Breaker, and Operation Mortar. In addition, the free download DLC also features five new weapons, fresh attachments, and a Carrier Assault Mode that is a "re-imagining of the classic Battlefield 2142 Titan Mode."

Gamers can enjoy exploring the four new maps via the "Naval Strike" DLC, which features Lost Islands, where a passenger plane has crashed amongst fishing villages in topical isles. Nansha Strike boasts of the largest ocean map in the history of "Battlefield 4," providing both ground and water-based battle sites. Wave Breaker features rocky islands, shipping docks, and a hazard-filled naval base to explore. Operation Mortar is a lonely, abandoned cliff-side resort that gamers will need to explore to appreciate.

The free download "Naval Strike" DLC also contains five new weapons, including the 3-grenade launcher attachment for the Assault class, as well as the Anti-Heli mine for Engineers. This isn't the first giveaway by EA, as the studio also gave away the "Dragon's Teeth" DLC back in May, and "Second Assault" just last month.

"Naval Strike" DLC is available across all platforms, including Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. EA's efforts to give away free content is their way to promote the upcoming release of "Battlefield 1" on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, which arrives in October. "Battlefield 4" was originally released on October 29, 2013, and was directed by Lars Gustavsson and Stefan Strandberg. Aleksander Grøndal and Tobias Dahl served as proucers for the game, which received mostly positive reviews.
