FIFA '13 Release Date: Pre-orders Hit 1 Million, Demo Downloaded 4.6 Million Times

EA Sports announced that FIFA '13 has been pre-order by one million soccer fans and the game's demo has been downloaded by 4.6 million on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC.

FIFA '13 is available in retail stores now throughout North America, and as a digital download through Origin. The videogame will be released in the rest of the world beginning Sept. 28.

FIFA '13 is already considered a critical success with 32 review scores of 90 out of 100 or higher. Eurogamer awarded FIFA '13 a perfect 100 score and said, "Even the headline changes for FIFA '13 are more evolutionary than anything." Gaming site Vandal.net score the game a 94/100 and described the action as "close to perfection."

The game's demo, which launched on Sept. 11 on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, has been downloaded 4.6 million times, EA said. This is a record for any EA Sports game.

According to EA's press release "Social media indicators are revealing massive interest and momentum in the game. The EA SPORTS football community on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/easportsfifa has surpassed 10 million Likes, and according to Brandwatch, FIFA Soccer 13 was mentioned every 1.3 seconds on Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms in the three days after the demo launched."

In North America, over 875,000 fans have played the demo, and according to EA 294,000 were first-time FIFA Soccer fans in the United States.

EA also confirmed that FIFA 13 would be a launch title for the Wii U. Nintendo's Wii U releases in North America on Nov. 18 beginning at $299, and will release in Europe on Nov. 30 and Japan on Dec. 8.

FIFA Soccer 13 will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Wii console, PC, PlayStation 2,Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Portable. Check out our review of the FIFA 13 demo here.
