It looks like "True Detective" will be back with a new season. HBO new programming chief Casey Bloys teased at HBO's TCA presentation that "True Detective" is alive and about to have Season 3. Although its Season 2 has been criticized, the drama series will come forth and redeem itself.
The Planning Of 'True Detective' Season 3
"['True Detective'] is not dead," these were Casey Bloys' words when he talked about the comeback of "True Detective" Season 3. In fact, he revealed that he and the writer Nic Pizzolatto are open to make a new season. However, it seems that the 40-year-old novelist will not be the screenwriter of the show this time as they are now looking for a new writer.
Nic Pizzolatto will only supervise the new writer of "True Detective" Season 3 and they are open to create a different kind program this time, as per IGN. The former HBO programming chief Michael Lombardo also revealed that he wants Nic Pizzolatto to be involved in making "True Detective" Season 3. "I haven't asked every one of the 12 million viewers who is watching, but I think what he's doing is so much bolder, braver and satisfying that what I'm seeing in film," he said.
What To Expect In 'True Detective' Season 3?
Matthew McConaughey already expressed his interest in reprising his role in "True Detective" Season 3 as the cynical insomniac, but the very effective detective, Rustin Cohle. The 46-year-old actor told Rich Eisen that he is more than willing to be back for a new season. In fact, he is now talking with Nic Pizzolatto for the possibility of doing "True Detective" Season 3 with him.
Meanwhile, as HBO is now airing its new crime drama short series, "The Night Of," there are some speculations that it is the secret "True Detective" Season 3, as per The Bitbag. However, as there are now emerging news about the planning of the new season, it looks like "The Night Of" is HBO's way to introduce again the detective drama genre to its viewers. "True Detective" Season 3 is expected to be out in 2017.
