Samsung's Galaxy S3 Mini exists, JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communications confirmed Wednesday. The company will be releasing the smaller version of the Galaxy S3 on Oct. 11 in Germany.
Shin announced the information at a press meet in Korea.
Details of the device were not revealed. The device was crafted because there was a huge demand for 4-inch devices in Europe, Shin said. He also said that it will not be an entry-level handset, as it will have "full form factor," The Verge reported.
"We'll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany. There's a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it 'mini,'" said Shin.
Speculations surrounding the S3 Mini were widespread after Samsung sent a press invite to an event to be held in Frankfurt, Germany. The Oct. 2 invite had readers puzzled with the words on the invite: "So big can be small. And so small can be big. Get ready for a little sensation."
The news comes at a time when there are rumors galore that Apple might introduce an iPad Mini this month.
Shin also announced that the Samsung Ativ S Windows Phone 8 smartphone will be released either in October or November. Samsung will proceed with its plans to sue Apple over LTE patents, he added, according to a report by CNET.
