Google Rolls Out Update for Play Store

Google is currently rolling out a new Play Store update for Android-based devices. The update will notch up Google's Play store to the 3.9.16 version from its current 3.8.17, which was updated in August.

This new update will introduce more features users have been awaiting for quite some time. Features like the ability to remove apps that were previously downloaded over the past years from the All Apps list will be included. This update gives better control over the All Apps list, since users can now remove all the unwanted apps that have piled up. Users can either selectively clear an app or multiple apps can be selected and cleared all at once, thus speeding up the process and tidying the user's device.

The notifications are now better, with expandable lists showing which apps are available for update, rather than stating the number of apps available for update. The notification icon which used to show up when there were new updates has also changed. The notification icon now shows the app icon rather than the mere display of a generic icon, Android Police reported.

Google downsized the Play store APK.

Ever since Google Play Store was introduced to users Oct. 22, 2008, it has expanded to include over 600,000 apps. It was previously called Android Market until it was rebranded as Play store on March 6. It has cloud storage, where users can buy a music album on a mobile device and listen to it on their desktop.

The store also lets what users "like" and "share" their buys on social networks. Users can allow their friends to listen freely to an album which they have purchased.

As of Sept. 26, Google's Play store had 675,000 apps available and 25 billion downloads had taken place, The Verge reported.
