Rumors regarding the smaller version of iPad Mini just won't die.
Adding fuel to the fire, Apple reportedly is hosting an invitation-only event Oct.23 that might unveil of the much-rumored-iPad Mini, Reuters reported Friday.
This announcement will be three days ahead of Microsoft launching its Surface tablet Oct. 26.
Apple was supposed to have sent invitations for the event on Oct.10, but the date passed without a word from California based-technology giant. There was speculation that the postponement might be due to production delays, AllThingsD reported.
The event according to reports, will be held Apple's Headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. where Apple debuted its iPhone 4S and MacBook Air, though most of the announcements are usually held in San Francisco.
Apple's iPad Mini is rumored to feature a 7.85-inch liquid-crystal display and a Lightning connector. It will be a toned down version of iPad and might be priced between $200-$250. It is likely to be a Wi-Fi only tablet.
iPad Mini if launched, will be competing against Amazon's Kindle Fire and Google's Nexus 7.
"We actually had the opportunity to play with a pilot iPad Mini used by one of the vendors," said Brian White, analyst at Topeka Capital, Reuters reported. "This 7.85-inch iPad Mini fits our hands like a glove and we were easily able to tuck the device in our sport coat, offering consumers a more mobile iPad experience for certain use cases."
