'Ocean's Eight' Release Date, News & Update: 'Ocean's Eleven' Remake Has An All-Star Female Cast; Is This Hollywood's New Trend?

"Ocean's Eleven" is set to have a remake that will be called "Ocean's Eight." It is now confirmed that the upcoming movie will have an all-female lineup that will be led by Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.

'Ocean's Eight' Details

Aside from the two A-listers, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina, a TV personality also known as Nora Lum, are all set to appear in "Ocean's Eight," as per Deadline. The spinoff will be directed by Gary Ross and the filming is about to start in October.

Warner Bros, too, is still busy securing additional casts and there is a little possibility that the original trilogy, "Ocean's Eleven," "Ocean's Twelve" and "Ocean's Thirteen" casts will have cameo roles. "Ocean's Eight" is will be produced by Steven Soderbergh, while the script will be in collaboration of Gary Ross and Olivia Milch.

Hollywood's New Trend In Making Remake Movies

Meanwhile, E! News noted that it seems like Hollywood now has a new trend of reviving films with an all-female cast. One good example is the recently shown "Ghostbusters" reboot that stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. As the 2016 paranormal comedy film is now experiencing $70 million loss, some question if an all-female "Ocean's Eight" is a good idea.

Truly, "Ocean's Eight" has a star power with its roster of A-list Hollywood stars and anchoring Gary Ross is also a plus. But, the publication believes that the female actresses should have their own original movie than making a reboot of a famous film. All the producers have to do is create a good storyline and find the perfect actress who can portray the role, whether it is suit for a man or a woman.

To recall, Angelina Jolie's salt was originally made for Tom Cruise but as the latter backed out, the title role "Edwin Salt" was changed into "Evelyn Salt" and it was a big hit. Sigourney Weaver, too, was recognized as a hero in the movie "Alien. "
