The new iPod touch device received a warm welcome for its sleek, 4-inch Retina display, 5MP camera A5 chip, and Siri. But the ambient light sensor was missing from the device.
Apple senior vice -president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schille,r explained in a reply to one user that due to the thinness of the device, the light sensor could not be fitted into it, reports said, Tuesday.
Ambient light sensor is automatic brightness control feature.
This issue was noticed by a number of users who saw the auto brightness feature was missing from the device. One of the users, Raghid Harake of Lebanon e-mailed his concern to Schiller, who explained that since the iPod is "just too thin," they were not able to accommodate it, Apple news site iDownloadBlog reported.
The fourth-generation iPod was 7.2 mm thick.
The fifth-generation of iPod Touch's are the thinnest ever, it is 6-mm thick and weighs only 88 grams. It's housed in an anodized aluminum body. It has 40 hours of music playback and eight hours of video playback. The camera supports 1080p video recording and has video image stabilization, face detection and an LED flash. The 5MP camera has auto focus. It also has panorama capture feature. It also has a front facing camera for taking 1.2 megapixel photos and supports 720p video.
The new iPod Touch comes in with built-in Facebook integration, Shared Photo Streams via iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, Mail and Game Center features. iPod Touch was unveiled along with iPhone last month.
