Matthew Vaughn, director of the much-anticipated sequel, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is busy with "Kick-Ass 2," but that hasn't stopped things from moving for the next movie in the X-Men franchise.
Mark Millar, Marvel creative consultant, teased fans with hints about the plot of the movie.
Millar, is the creative consultant for Fox on all their Marvel properties, that will include "The Wolverine," " 'Fantastic Four," "Reboot" and "X-men: Days of Future Past."
"Vaughn is going for a big sci-fi style thing with X-Men: Days of Future Past. It's X-Men meets The Terminator," he said in an interview with Total Film, "You've got robots, you've got time travel, you've got superheroes - it's got everything in one film."
Millar's comparison of robots hints at the robotic Sentinels that are programmed to locate and capture or kill mutants in the comics, Collider reported. Millar also has a habit of providing incorrect or exaggerated rumors of the book adaptations.
The Sentinels made a very brief appearance in "X-Men: The Last Stand."
"Cost-wise [Days of Future Past is] going to go up, and ambitious-wise it's gone up. But Vaughn can handle it. Vaughn made 'Kick-Ass' for $28 million," Millar said.
Days of Future Past story appeared in 1981. It was written by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. The story appeared in "Uncanny X-Men #141-142".
It "depicts a timeline created by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants from assassinating a U.S. senator, Robert Kelly.
In that alternate future, the giant robotic Sentinels have become the de facto rulers of the United States, where mutants are hunted down and placed in internment camps," Spinoff Online reported.
It's likely that the movie story will deviate from the comic book story.
Production for the movie is scheduled begin early next year and is anticipated for a July 18, 2014 release.
