'Stranger Things' Season 2 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Duffer Brothers Likens the Show's Progression to 'Harry Potter' Series

Netflix's "Stranger Things" has captured viewers across the country this summer when it debuted on July 15. One of its charms is that it's set in the '80s, when there are no iPhones, Facebook, Instagram, or "Pokemon GO." It's very nostalgic, marrying the warm, fuzzy feelings of the past with the mystery of parallel universes and portals that the characters had to deal with throughout its eight episodes.

Netflix has kept mum on whether or not "Stranger Things" season 2 is a go, but fans are positive that the show will come back with a second iteration. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the Netflix show brings Winona Ryder to the small screen, alongside breakout child stars Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, and Caleb McLaughlin.

Speaking of the kids, the Duffer brothers recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly to share their thoughts on how they want the show to progress given a "Stranger Things" season 2. Matt Duffer said that their goal is to create "a 'Harry Potter' situation," wherein both the creators and writers, and the viewers would get to see the child stars grow on and off screen, and into their roles.

Duffer shared that he enjoys seeing children growing up in the camera, and that the idea of seeing them a year later, in "Stranger Things" season 2, would be "cool." He explained that "it allows us to explore the mythology of our nether."

As fans wait for the return of "Stranger Things" season 2, why not check out what the cast has been up to while they're on break? Rolling Stone reports that Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler on the show, is brushing up on his musical talents. He took to Twitter to share a video of himself playing Nirvana's "Lithium" on guitar. Check out the video below.

Meanwhile, Charlie Heaton, who plays Jonathan Byers, is currently in Spain to film the thriller "Marrowbone" alongside Mia Goth. Check back for more updates on "Stranger Things" season 2, which hopefully gets an order from Netflix soon.
