'Battlefield 1' Latest News, Release Date & Update: Beta Begins August 31; What to Expect from the Game

Electronic Arts and DICE's highly anticipated "Battlefield 1" begins its open beta on August 31, as announced on their official website. Players with Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or Windows PC can access the beta via Origin beginning August 31, but for those who have already signed up as a Battlefield Insider and vote for their platform of choice on or before August 21 will be granted access way ahead of others, as we recently reported.

IGN reports that players who take part of the "Battlefield 1" open beta will be able to test the "Conquest" and "Rush" modes in the highly anticipated game's newest Sinai Desert Map that supports as much as 64-player battles. A large-scale game mode called "Conquest" is one of two new game modes available in the game. It is characterized as filled with large armies both on foot and wheel, with fearsome Behemoths and other elements that players would e familiar with as the signature "All-Out War" in the game.

"Rush" mode on the other hand is a 24-player mode where the Attacking force is tasked to find and eliminate the Defending force's Telegraph Posts, which are used to call in artillery strikes. Defenders must prevent the Attackers from completing their mission by disarming explosives found in telegraph positions.

Moreover, "Battlefield 1" beta players can also get their hands on the controllable Armored Train and rideable horses. The Sinai Desert map also includes three new Elite Classes, including Flame Trooper, Sentry and Tank Hunter.

Speaking of classes, a recent interview with "Battlefied 1" weapons designer Julian Schimek published in the game's official website revealed how each class has been created to be more efficient in battling out their opponents. According to Schimek, their goal was to make players feel like they are capable to to head to head with anyone in the game. He also invited gamers to look closely at each class because they "have their own little visual quirks that set them apart."

"Battlefield 1" arrives on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC on October 21, and open beta begins this August 31.
