'Pokemon GO' Latest News & Update: Legendary Pokemon Spawns Geared For Launch At Gamescom 2016?

Rumors that legendary Pokemon will soon appear in "Pokemon Go" continue to circulate. Many "Pokemon Go" players expect that the powerful creatures will be announced at GamesCom 2016 in Germany.

Previously, "Pokemon Go" fans thought that Niantic and Nintendo would introduce the legendary Pokemon at San Diego Comic Con in July 2016. However, the game creators remain silent about the potential arrival of legendary Pokemon. Many are still optimistic that the special creatures will finally surface at GamesCom 2016, to become available in "Pokemon Go" Gen 2.

Mobipicker stated that earlier in August 2016, one "Pokemon Go" player in Ohio reported having caught the legendary Pokemon Articuno, although Niantic allegedly withdrew the creature immediately, stating that they mistakenly released it to a few gamers. So far, the five known legendary Pokemon - Mew, Mewtwo, Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos have not yet been released. Niantic has so far featured 142 out of the 151 Pokemon in the Pokedex, as well as four region-exclusive creatures.

The three legendary birds, Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos, will most likely be added in "Pokemon Go," together with other rare creatures in a future update. Many believe that the "Pokemon Go" Gen 2 update will be the one that delivers the legendaries, along with unique new Pokemon. There will also be new features and gameplay mechanisms that will make the game more engaging, such as a Trade system and improved battle system and in-game trackers. It is still uncertain how legendary Pokemon can be acquired in the game.

The Bitbag revealed that in the meantime, fans can resort to the Nintendo 3DS versions of the game franchise, namely "Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire," to play legendaries like Yveltal and Xerneas. Reportedly, the a Shiny Xerneas at Level 100 with the moves Moonblast, Geomancy, Focus Blast and Aromatherapy and Fairy Aura ability, as well as a Shiny Yveltal at Level 100 with the moves Sucker Punch, Oblivion Wing, Foul Play and Dark Pulse and Dark Aura ability will be distributed at GamesCom 2016. More updates and details on "Pokemon Go" are expected soon.
