'Star Wars' Documentary 'The Prequels Strike Back' Asks Fans To Forget Everything They Know About The Trilogy [Watch Trailer]

Earlier in August 2016, an official trailer was released for the "Star Wars" documentary, titled "The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan's Journey." The project looks back on Episodes I, II and III to delve on the negative comments that these have garnered through the years. Dozens of interviews were conducted throughout the country to uncover the truth behind George Lucas's return.

George Lucas came back to helm "Episode I: The Phantom Menace," "Episode II: Attack of the Clones," and "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith." Although these did very well at the box office, hardcore "Star Wars" fans were not too pleased with the representation.

The "Star Wars" prequel attempts to determine whether the trilogy was truly as bad as fans believe. "The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan's Journey" features filmmaker Bradley Weatherholt talking to several "Star Wars" fans to get more insight.

SlashFilm revealed that the "Star Wars" documentary covers the entire trilogy that was launched about 15 years after "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" hit theaters in 1983. The "Star Wars" prequels are not actually among the worst films of all time. There are actually some excellent parallels between the original and prequel trilogies.

However, there were also several elements that ruined the franchise for loyal fans. These include Hayden Christensen's dismal performance as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, poorly written dialogues and the lack of authenticity.

According to GeeksofDoom, the "Star Wars" documentary trailer description stated that that almost 20 years after "Star Wars: Episode I," fans are still debating the pros and cons of the prequel trilogy. The project features the interviews of several fans to determine whether the prequel movies were truly a masterpiece or disaster. Hopefully, the documentary will uncover whether there is a way to bring back the balance between the dark and light sides of "Star Wars" fandom.

"Star Wars: The Prequels Strike Back" will launch digitally on Sept. 14, 2016 on Amazon, VHX and YouTube. Fans in Austin, Texas can also watch the screening at the South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse location on Oct. 6, 2016. More updates and details are expected to follow.
