'Star Wars Episode 8' Release Date, Latest News & Updates: Title Not Going To Be Announced Anytime Soon, Says Daisy Ridley

Fans of "Star Wars Episode 8" are still eagerly waiting for the official title to be announced. However, a film star stated that the "Star Wars Episode 8" title will take a while longer.

Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the hit movie franchise, said that it will take a while before the official title of "Star Wars Episode 8" will be unveiled. The actress continued that she heard a title for the next installment, although she is uncertain whether it will be the official one. Ridley said that she heard the title a long time ago before they even started filming, and feels that some things have slightly been adjusted during the production stages.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that shooting for "Star Wars Episode 8" is already finished and the film is already undergoing editing. However, the producers apparently decided to delay the announcement of the title for unspecified reasons. "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," only featured its official title in November 2014, which was about 13 months before the film was released.

The 2015 "Star Wars" film was shot using a different title. It was supposed to be "Star Wars: Episode VII - Shadow of the Empire," according to Pablo Hidalgo of Lucasfilm. The franchise producers obviously made some last-minute changes that led to the title replacement.

It could mean that the title of "Star Wars: Episode VIII" will not be announced until at least November 2016, since the movie is set to release in December 2017. On the contrary, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," featured its title in March 2015, about two years in advance of the movie's scheduled release.

Variety wrote that "Star Wars: Episode VIII" will showcase the return of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson). Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) and Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), among others will also be coming back for "Star Wars: Episode VIII." The new movie will also introduce an array of new characters from the saga.

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" is set to hit theaters on Dec. 15, 2017. More updates and details are expected soon.
