'Resident Evil 7' News & Update: Game Becoming Similar To 'Silent Hill'? Less Cameos For New Title Too

There's still little information available about "Resident Evil 7" and it's probably because Capcom is hard at work to keep things under wraps. Although many gamers are anticipating more details, it might just be a good thing -- you know, to give a little more room for surprises.

However, the Entertainment Software Rating Board might have just ruined that move for Capcom after publishing a summary of what's to come for "Resident Evil 7," per Push Square. In fact, the publication has even pointed out that it sounds a lot like "Silent Hill 2."

"This is a survival-horror game in which players assume the role of Ethan, a man searching for his missing wife in a derelict mansion," the overview noted. It even goes on to detail the first-person POV of "Resident Evil 7," where they get to probe their surroundings and have the ability to use all sorts of ammo to execute other-worldly entities.

What "Resident Evil 7" gamers would probably be happy about given the spoilers is the fact that Capcom wouldn't be holding back on the gore and life-like visuals of the game. There's gunfire, lots of blood splatters and a whole lot of violence that "Resident Evil 7" gamers are definitely seeking after.

On the other hand, PlayStationLifeStyle says that Capcom would be reducing the cameos on "Resident Evil 7," as advised by Matt Mercer, the voice behind the "Resident Evil" character, Leon. In fact, he shared that it might have been a good move on Capcom's part, even though he currently has no direct links to "Resident Evil 7" at this point.

"But I think it's also good of them, especially coming off of ['Resident Evil 6'] and its lukewarm reception, to go ahead and reestablish their roots and maybe start an original story. And if they decide that that does well, maybe they can then marry it in with the previous stories," Matt Mercer told GameSpot.

"Resident Evil 7" release date is slated for Jan. 24, 2017. It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
