Walking Dead: Episode 5 'No Time Left" Review Round-up

Telltale has released the final episode of its episodic point-and-click adventure role-playing video game, The Walking Dead. For those who do not know, The Walking Dead is a five-part game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman's award-winning comic book series.

Gamers play as Lee Everett, a convicted criminal, who has been given a second chance at life because of the zombie apocalypse. The game features lasting consequences based on the decisions that gamers make in each episode. While Lee is seeking refuge for the undead, he stumbles upon Clementine, an eight-year-old girl. Lee then takes Clementine under his wing as the search for supplies and safety.

Episode five is entitled "No Time Left" and sees Clementine kidnapped by an unknown enemy. According to game's official site, "Lee must set out onto the streets and rooftops of the city of Savannah, a place now completely overrun by the undead, to get her back." The episode is currently receiving high praise from critics. Here is our round-up of reviews for the final episode.

IGN gives the episode a 9.5-out-of-10 score and says, "The Walking Dead: The Game - Episode 5: No Time Left has the same technical hiccups that have plagued the Telltale series, but they're blown out of the water by the events experienced here. Lee's final hours are some of this season's best, and Episode 5 is the emotional finale fans deserve."

Gamespy give the game a perfect score of five stars and says, "Telltale may be guilty of overselling how much our actions ultimately affect the storyline, the story is so well told that drastically branching threads would only diminish its impact. More importantly, each awful, horrific choice influences the tension of the narrative in a very personal way. The destination may always be the same, but the road getting there is nonetheless paved with your decisions."

Game Informer gives the game a slightly lower score of 8.5-out-of-10 and said, "Telltale's episodic love letter to zombies remains one of the most memorable gaming experiences of the year. Telltale has already announced it is working on Season Two, and No Time Left beautifully wraps up the story of these last several episodes while teasing things to come. No Time Left isn't a "happily ever after" affair, but it feels like a dark and stormy intro to another exciting chapter."

On Metacritic, the PC version of the game currently holds a score of a 91-out-of-100 based on eight reviews, while the Xbox 360 version has an 89-out-of-100 based on 12 reviews and the PlayStation 3 version has the same score as the Xbox 360 version, but it is based on only five reviews.
