'Super Mario Maker' Latest News & Update: Game Arriving to Nintendo 3DS in December

It's going to be a super fun holiday this year, as "Super Mario Maker" is arriving to Nintendo 3DS, the studio announced yesterday. The game creation system, which was originally developed by Nintendo for the Wii U, was released back in September of 2015, and will make its way to Nintendo 3DS on December 2.

According to Polygon, the announcement was made by the studio during the Nintendo Direct presentation, in which they unveiled what will be called the "Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS," which is a portable version of the original Wii U-released game. The game is basically a tool for gamers to create levels from the "Super Mario" series, including "Super Mario Bros." (1985), "Super Mario Bros. 3" (1990), "Super Mario World" (2016 for Nintendo 3DS), and "New Super Mario Bros" (2012).

The upcoming "Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS" will include a slew of features that gamers may already be familiar with, but will also enable them to share their game creations through local wireless and StreetPass. However, gamers will not be able to upload them online for others to play. The game will also feature levels found in the original game released on Wii U, but not all levels will make it to the portable version. In fact, gamers must not expect the Mystery Mushroom to be on the Nintendo 3DS version, as it is only exclusive to Wii U.

Meanwhile, gamers can look forward to the 100 built-in, Nintendo-developed courses in "Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS," but gamers will have to explore them on their own because there is no search function for the specific Wii U courses. TechCrunch also reports that users can also access Wii U-created courses online.

For Nintendo 3DS users who want to beef up their console, Nintendo is also offering "Yoshi's Woolly World," as per Digital Spy. "Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS" will arrive this December 2.
