MLB 13: The Show Release Date Announced By Sony

Sony announced the release date for its latest installment of the number-one selling and rated Major League Baseball video game franchise, MLB 13: The Show. The game will release on March 5, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Sony also announced via its official blog that for the first time ever baseball video game fans would get to choose the cover athlete for this year's title via a Cover Campaign that begins in early January.

The game will feature an All-New Playoff Mode. Sony says, the mode includes "in-stadium atmosphere that replicates the excitement and tension of October baseball. The experience is unrivalled by anything The Show has ever exhibited."

Other new features that will be in this year's edition include a new beginner mode and instructional enhancements that make The Show easier to just pick-up and play for new comers and beginners. The developers have also improved the Play Now Mode to streamline gameplay, for faster and simpler games.

The blog entry also states that San Diego Studios has also revamped The Show's Franchise and Road To The Show modes, but only says that the developer has "expanded options" and created "new gameplay experiences."

According to Sony, the PlayStation Vita version of the game will feature the same upgrades and new features as the PlayStation 3 console version and will see the return of the sync feature that enables gamers to share Season, Franchise and Road to the Show saves between platforms.

"These are just a few of the enhancements San Diego Studios have made to the 2013 version of The Show, Sony said. "All new features and game modes will be unveiled and detailed throughout the coming months."

MLB 12: the Show featured two cover athletes; Adrian Gonzalez, first baseman of the Boston Red Sox was the American version of the game's cover athlete and Toronto Blue Jays right fielder/third baseman Jose Bautista on the cover of the Canadian edition.

MLB 12: the Show received favorable reviews when it released and currently holds a score of 87-out-of-100 on review aggregating website Metacritic. The score is based on 23 reviews.
