'Diablo 4' Release Date, Latest News & Updates: Big Reveal Expected At BlizzCon 2016; Multiple Projects Coming

There are rumors that "Diablo 4" will be announced at BlizzCon 2016. Blizzard has not yet made an official announcement but fans are optimistic that "Diablo 4" is already in the works and will soon be introduced.

Vine Report noted that "Diablo 3" was released in May 2012 and fans have already been asking for "Diablo 4." Some players believe that a full game may be too much to ask from Blizzard, and instead requested for an expansion or additional content for the third title. There is still no news regarding the potential storyline, new characters and features.

Considering the popularity of "Diablo 3," Blizzard may opt to add new features, instead of creating an entirely new game. It may also be more feasible to showcase additional content, considering the current need of skilled game developers. Blizzard may not focus on "Diablo 4" until it has a full team to work on every aspect of the game.

Blizzard is currently hiring new talented people like designers, animators, concept artists and directors. Josh Mosqueira, game director of "Diablo," previously resigned from the company. Although his exit started talks that "Diablo 4" may be cancelled, more fans believe that the fourth installment will still happen. Mosqueira was hired for a secret project, speculated to be the remake of "Diablo 2" HD, instead of "Diablo 4."

The Bitbag revealed that Blizzard may be hiring more people to work on three projects simultaneously, namely "Diablo 4," the "Diablo 2" HD remake, and a "Diablo 3" expansion. All three games may even be announced at BlizzCon 2016. Among the three potential projects, however, "Diablo 4" may be the last to arrive, as well as the most likely to get cancelled. It will take time for Blizzard to look for a suitable replacement for Josh Mosqueira.

The possibility of a "Diablo 2" HD remake and "Diablo 3" expansion is more likely. Blizzard teased that their upcoming event will feature several great things and reveals. Even if the game developer does not showcase "Diablo 4," fans will most likely look forward to new content in the form of an expansion or remake. BlizzCon 2016 will take place on Nov. 4 and 5, 2016 at Anaheim, California.
