Nintendo NX Latest News, Release Date & Update: Cartridges Officially Confirmed

In early August, Game & Guide reported on the impending return of game cartridges for the upcoming Nintendo NX. Now all that has been confirmed through various news mediums.

Game Cartridges coming

Wall Street Journal reports that sources tied up with the plans of Nintendo are alleging the return of the old cartridge system that the famed game console maker made famous before. Since the big shift to discs, this should be an interesting reversion.

For the big kids out there who lives the age of using cartridges, this should be something to yearn for. But would the use of that plastic and hard-edged cartridges be safe for the modern kids?

 More affordable games coming?

With the retro intent, games could be getting a big price off with the use of cartridges, per Forbes. Though that remains to be seen, eliminated are worries on discs wearing out. Such happens on the improper use and handling where scratches sometimes deprive gamers of enjoying games.

A New Kind of Game Cartridge

While the immediate thing that comes to mind are the old game cartridges loaded on popular NES consoles, interesting will be how Nintendo will improve on them. It is a given that they will be the same old plastic casings that houses game cards/chips but things like size and price come to mind.

Will Nintendo give more details?

While speculations on what the game cartridges will bring seem pretty clear, equally interesting is what Nintendo has planned for the Nintendo NX. Things like how it will properly integrate third-party support and other interfaces come to mind which could be the unique angle that the company has been holding off.

Recall that Nintendo purposely kept itself clear at E3 in what Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto claims was a tactic to avoid imitators. Could this be one of the things they were trying to avoid?
