'Suicide Squad' Latest News & Updates: Anti-Hero Flick Enters Top 100 Highest Grossing Films List Despite Criticisms

After "Suicide Squad" became one of the most critically absorbed films of the year, many believe that it did not save Warner Bros. from the apparent disappointment of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The point, however, was clearly alleviated when the numbers came in for the anti-hero flick.

Being one of the main blockbuster hits that this year has slated, "Suicide Squad" did not exactly fail in the global box office. The David Ayer-directed film raked in a whole lot more than what the doubtful movie goers expected from it.

According to We Got This Covered, "Suicide Squad" allegedly surpassed the $500 million ceiling for the worldwide box office around two weeks ago, with the numbers landing at $672.9 million. All throughout, the movie is estimated to end at approximately $700 to $730 million once done.

It was said that "Suicide Squad" did not quite stomp past the earnings of its relative film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" at least domestically, but is already labelled to have gone beyond "Man of Steel" that gathered $291 million within the North American territories. Zack Snyder's previous film was said to have ended at $330.36 million, much farther away from Ayer's.

As per Digital Spy, "Suicide Squad" allegedly toppled off other superhero movies on top 100 grossing films of all time, such as "Thor: The Dark World." Despite such achievement, the movie is still unable to go past the other Marvel hits such as "Iron Man 3," "The Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"Suicide Squad" revolves around the mission of a group of villains that were formed together by the government to take on impending world-threatening danger. After the film's events, a potential sequel could come forth, but is yet to be confirmed.
